Sago Murukku / Javvarisi Murukku is prepared by soaking javvarisi /sago in curd for hours and then mixed with rice flour and gram flour to yield crispy and crunchy murukkus.The addition of javvarisi makes the murukku more crunchy and beautiful.This murukku is very perfect for all special occasions especially for the soaked tapioca pearls that makes it more inviting.
This recipe is very easy to make at home even for beginners,the soaked sago easily comes out of the mould and you need not worry about getting them accumulated inside the mould.Do try this easy murukku for kids at home for their summer vacation must have started already 🙂

PREPARATION TIME : 10 MINS

SOAKING TIME : 4 HOURS

COOKING TIME : 20 MINS

YIELDS: 3 CUPS

INGREDIENTS

1/4 cup Sago/ Javarisi

1 cup curd

1 cup rice four

2 tbsp roasted gram flour

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

2 tsp hot oil

1 tsp red chilli powder

A generous pinch of asafoetida

Oil for frying

Salt to taste

Water as required

METHOD

Soak sago in curd for 4 hours.

Grind the roasted bengal gram.

Heat oil in kadai,meanwhile take a large mixing bowl,add 1 cup rice flour,salt,red chilli powder,cumin seeds,asafoetida and mix well.

Then add sago/javvarisi,roasted gram flour,hot oil and required water to form a soft dough.

Add the dough to your murukku mould with the shown disc,carefully press directly into oil in such a way they don’t stick to each other.Fry till it changes to mild orange in color and drain using a kitchen paper.

Store in an airtight container and enjoy your snack with TEA.
