Mango Pachadi Recipe

Summer season is at its peak in Chennai ,best period to try all mango recipes while they are cheap and easily available.This Mango pachadi recipes is prepared especially for Tamil New Year , combination of different flavours and tastes that makes it perfect with breakfast items and steamed rice.Choose unripe mangoes for the sweetened ones doesn’t give desirable taste.Some also add ground coconut and neem flowers to make this pachadi.I have taken jaggery syrup ,you can also add jaggery directly to the mangoes once they are cooked.Do try this spicy,tangy,sweet pachadi and share it with your loved one.

PREPARATION TIME : 5 MINS

MAKING TIME : 12 MINS

SERVES : 4

INGREDIENTS

2 cups (chopped mangoes) (cook in half cup water)

1 cup jaggery (boil in 1/4 cup water)

1/2 tsp red chili powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/4 tsp salt

TO TEMPER

1/4 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp urad dal

2 dried red chillies

A pinch of asafoetida

Few curry leaves

METHOD

Peel the mangoes and chop them to bite sized pieces.

Cook the mangoes with water for 10 mins in low flame.

In a heavy bottomed vessel,add jaggery with water and let it boil for 5 mins.

Filter them through a strainer and add to the cooked mangoes.Cook for 2 more mins and switch off the flame.

Heat oil in a kadai,add the items under ‘to temper’ column and add it to the cooked mangoes and jaggery syrup.

Delicious Mango Pachadi is ready to serve now.
