Samosa Recipe

Samosa is one of the most popular deep fried Indian snack.Very easy to make snack with crispy outer layer and spicy potato ,peas stuffing.Most commonly samosa are made with potato stuffing but you can also try them with meat.Samosas are available as street food these days but the ones made at home are more tasty and good for our tummy.An all time favourite evening snack that goes great with a cup of TEA

INGREDIENTS

FOR THE DOUGH

2 cups maida

1 tsp ajwain

4 tsp hot oil or GHEE

Water as required

Salt to taste

FOR THE STUFFINGS

3 boiled potatoes

1/4 cup boiled peas

1/2 tsp ginger paste

1/2 tsp garlic paste

2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp chilli powder

1/2 garam masala powder

1/4 tsp cumin powder

1/2 tsp coriander powder

Salt to taste

Oil for frying

METHOD

In a large mixing bowl,mix maida,hot ghee ,ajwain ,salt ,water to make a soft dough.Let it rest for 20 mins.

Boil the potatoes and peas,add turmeric powder,chilli powder,cumin powder,coriander powder,salt and mix well.

Heat oil in a kadai,add cumin and saute for 30 secs,then add ginger, garlic paste and saute for a mins.Then add the potato mixture ,chopped coriander leaves saute for 2 mins and switch off the flame.

Make small balls out of the dough,roll them using a rolling pin and cut them into 2 halves.Wet the corners of the rolled dough,roll around to make a cone.

Place a tablespoon of the filling into the cone,seal the edges by brushing with water and press them tightly to seal well.

Deep fry the samosas on low-medium flame until golden brown,drain samosas using kitchen paper to remove excess oil.

Serve with ketchup or your favorite chutney.
