Prawn Biryani Recipe

Biryani is a rich rice dish that is so aromatic with the addition of spices and the basmati rice adds more flavor and taste to it.This is curd based recipe but you can also use coconut milk for curd.This is the easiest of all biryani recipes for there is no prepreparation process like marination as the prawns get cooked in few minutes.So when you have sudden guests at home ,you can make this prawn biryani in a jiffy and impress them with this royal delicacy.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup prawns

1 1/2 cup basmati rice

1 large sized onion

1 tomato

1 tbsp coriander leaves chopped

1 tbsp mint leaves chopped

2 tsp ginger garlic paste

3/4 tsp fennel seeds

2 star anise

2 cinnamon stick

3 cloves

2 black cardamoms (optional)

1 green cardamom

2 bay leaf

1/4 cup curd

2 green chillies

1 tsp red chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

Oil as required

Salt to taste

METHOD

Soak the rice in plain water for 25 mins.
Heat oil in a pan,add cardamom,cloves,fennel seeds,bay leaf,green chillies,cinnamon stick and saute for 2 mins in low flame.Add onions and saute for 2 mins in low flame.

Now add tomatoes and saute for 2 mins in medium flame.Add ginger garlic paste and saute for 2 more mins in low flame.

Add the prawns now and saute for 2 mins,then add red chilly powder,turmeric ans saute for 2 mins.

Add curd and 2 cups water ,coriander leaves,mint leaves,salt and bring it to boil.When it starts to boil drain the water and add the soaked rice and let it boil in high flame for 4 mins,then simmer the flame to low and cook for 4 mins.

Then transfer this to a heated dosa pan and let it stay in dum for 5 mins in low flame with a closed lid.Switch off the flame now.

Open the biryani after 25 mins.

Serve the delicious Prawn biryani hot with raitha.
