Grape Squash Recipe

Grape Squash is thickened grape juice with sugar which can be stored for 2-3 weeks and consumed when needed.Chennai’s heat doesn’t seem to be coming down even after Agni Veyil,so it is good to prepare homemade squashes that is always better than store bought ones.Only the preparation takes time and it is long process,but it is so easy to serve by mixing one part of thick squash with 3 or 4 parts of water.
This was the first recipe that was taken for me in my Home Science class,so it is always so special to me.Every time I make this grape squash,it fills me with such old good memories.
The next time you feel tired, instead of grabbing a cup coffee or tea, pour yourself a glass of grape juice to get an instant boost of energy.

PREPARATION TIME : 45 MINS

YIELDS : 750 ML

INGREDIENTS

1 kg grapes

1 1/2 cups sugar

1 cup water

2 tsp tonavine essence (optional)

METHOD

Wash the grapes,cook them in a wide vessel for 15 mins with 1 cup water.

Let it cool and grind them in your mixer,strain the juice and discard the residue.Transfer the juice to a vessel and cook for 10 mins in low flame.Remove the scum that gathers at the corners.

Then add sugar and cook for 10 mins and remove the scum that gathers.

Add tonavine essence and switch off the flame after a min.Let it cool.

Refrigerate in an airtight bottle and serve chilled.

TAKE CARE TIPS

Adjust sugar level according to your preference.

Adding tonavine essence is optional.
