Murukku is a traditional deep fried snack recipe of India made using rice flour and lenthil flour Though murukkus are easily available in the stores these days, homemade murukkus are always the best.Freshly made murukkus are so good to taste and perfect for tea time.Murukku flour is usually prepared by soaking and grinding method but today I have posted a simple method where the raw rice is directly ground in a mill with some roasted urad dhal.As the rice is not soaked they stay good for 2-3 months when refrigerated. You can use omam, sesame seeds or cumin for flavour.Do try this instant murukku and have a wonderful evening with your loved ones.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups raw rice
1/2 cup urad dhal
2 tbsp butter
2 tsp sesame seeds
Salt to taste
Water as required
Oil for frying
METHOD
Dry roast urad dhal for 5 mins in low flame and grind them along with the raw rice.
Sieve the ground flour.
In a bowl, mix together the flour, butter, sesame seeds, salt, water and make a soft dough.I used the 3 holes disc in the murukku maker for making these murukkus.
Fill the murukku maker with the dough and slowly press directly into oil.
Fry the murukku until cooked on both the sides and drain in a kitchen paper.
Enjoy your murukku with a cup of hot GINGER CARDAMOM TEA
